Kung Fu Panda content is incorporated into Minecraft
2 min readLately, Minecraft has been integrating an increasing amount of crossover material into its immensely popular sandbox world. This trend is partly attributed to collaboration between developer Mojang and studios affiliated with Legendary Pictures. While Mojang is primarily focused on its collaboration with Legendary Pictures for the upcoming Minecraft movie, it has also expressed a willingness to collaborate with other franchises. Recently, the team unveiled its latest collaboration, which seems fitting considering Minecraft’s large audience of young players. The latest addition is the introduction of Kung Fu Panda DLC into Minecraft, serving as a tribute to the success of the fourth installment in the animated film series.
Minecraft DLC Featuring Kung Fu Panda Released
The Minecraft Marketplace now offers the Kung Fu Panda DLC for players. Priced at 1,510 Minecoins, equivalent to just under $10, this package grants access to a new adventure map described by Mojang as featuring “action-packed battles, epic showdowns from the movies, and pand-tastic co-op action.” While specific details are limited, players can anticipate a double jump feature and exclusive skins of beloved characters from the Kung Fu Panda cinematic universe. Expect to confront adversaries from Po’s past, such as Tai Lung and General Kai. Unlike previous packs with multiple adventure maps, the Kung Fu Panda map appears to be a single expansive landmass for exploration. Additionally, purchasers gain access to the Dragon Warrior’s Hat Character Creator item.
What Lies Ahead for Minecraft?
While additional crossover content is anticipated, many enthusiasts eagerly await Update 1.21. Though its release date remains uncertain, Mojang aims for a mid-2024 launch. Given that the last two updates were both released in June, most players speculate that 1.21 will follow a similar timeline. However, adjustments may be necessary depending on the progress of development.
Furthermore, numerous enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the release of the Minecraft movie featuring Jack Black and Jason Momoa. Although filming recently concluded earlier this month, there’s a considerable wait ahead before it hits theaters. The current scheduled release date for the movie is April 4, 2025, which is almost a year away. While there’s a possibility of changes to this date, it’s unlikely to be any earlier than that.
Meanwhile, Minecraft is currently accessible across various platforms including PlayStation, Switch, mobile, Xbox, and PC.
